Do you think Hawkesbury Council listens to you?

There are significant challenges facing the Hawkesbury. Roads. Rates. Development.

For eight years, it’s been my mission to make government transparent and accountable to you.

How often have Council ever asked you your views on the things that matter to you?

This website aims to make it easier to share your opinions and concerns on important local issues. It will allow myself and fellow councillors to be more aware of what the community expects.

You’ll see surveys appear on this site over time to help keep me better understand the community’s desires for the future of The Hawkesbury.

Fix Grose Vale Road

Grose Vale Road between North Richmond and Kurrajong is in a mess. Increased traffic caused by the Redbank development, plus wear and tear caused by two years of high rainfall mean it badly needs a greater focus by Council.

Mulgrave station carpark is unsafe for both vehicles and pedestrians, and is in increasing use. It was promised as part of infrastructure improvements flowing from the Pitt Town development, but was never delivered. The State government should pave, light and improve it urgently.

Sydney has a problem: Addiction to endless growth

It’s gradually eroding what makes the Hawkesbury such a special place to live. But what does that have to do with the obscure economic concept of ‘The Tragedy of the Commons’, buying milk at the local shops, and Australia’s unprecedented levels of migration?

Council turns down request to survey residents on development

In 2020 Council considered its housing strategy for the coming years. In my speech I said that some areas of the Hawkesbury are coming under intense pressure for development and that we should survey those communities to ask what they wanted. I was turned down.

The dilemma for suburbs in the Hawkesbury facing pressure for growth

I addressed the Oakville Progress Association and articulated the challenge facing the south-east parts of our city. Some people want to preserve our semi-rural lifestyle. Others welcome opportunities to subdivide. How do we chart a path? By asking the communities what they want.
